What is Panchakarma?
Panchakarma — meaning 'five actions' — is the cornerstone Ayurvedic purification therapy. These five procedures systematically eliminate accumulated toxins (ama) from the body, restore the natural balance of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha), and rejuvenate the tissues at a cellular level.
At Kaalimadom Ayurveda Hospital, Panchakarma is performed by experienced physicians using freshly prepared classical formulations, ensuring authentic and effective outcomes.
Kapha Cleanse
Vamanam
(Therapeutic Emesis)
Medicated emesis therapy that induces vomiting to remove Kapha toxins accumulated in the body and respiratory tract. Indicated for anemia, chronic indigestion, sinus problems, cough and cold, oedema, epilepsy, skin diseases, fever, loss of appetite, lymphatic obstruction, nausea, food poisoning, and asthma.
Pitta Cleanse
Virechanam
(Therapeutic Purgation)
This therapy eliminates Pitta toxins from the liver and gallbladder, clearing accumulated bile from the mid-body. Beneficial for ulcers, IBS, gastritis, intestinal colic, jaundice, kidney complaints, hypertension, and asthma.
The Mother of All Treatments
Basti / Vasti
(Medicated Enema)
Considered the most powerful Panchakarma procedure, Basti cleanses the lower abdomen and colon, removing toxins related to all three doshas — particularly Vata. Medicated oils or decoctions are administered rectally, deeply cleansing and rejuvenating the entire system.
Blood Purification
Raktha Mokshanam
(Bloodletting)
A classical bloodletting procedure that addresses toxicity and blood impurity. Indicated for skin diseases, herpes, jaundice, abscesses, ulcers, and gout. When performed correctly, it provides rapid relief from conditions caused by impure blood.
ENT & Head Cleanse
Nasyam
(Nasal Administration)
Medicated powder, juice, or herbal oils are applied through the nostrils to cleanse the head and neck region. Highly effective for headaches, sinusitis, migraine, and ENT conditions. Also reduces stress and deeply detoxifies the upper body.
